The Coast Brief: A Local Perspective, By Design

There’s something special about the Monterey Peninsula, something you don’t fully understand unless you’ve truly lived it. The Coast Brief was created as a space to share that perspective.

As a fourth-generation Monterey native, being “local” to me goes far beyond a zip code. I was born and raised here, grew up in these school districts, and now teach dance to local children, something I care deeply about. My roots here are layered: my family has been part of this community for generations, many in the trades, and my life today is still deeply connected to the people and places that make this area so unique.

Over the years, that connection has grown in new ways. I’ve started a women’s group, called Coastal Connect, to bring people together. I've hosted community and charity-driven events, and built relationships with friends and clients who are behind some of the Peninsula’s most well-known local happenings. Professionally, I’m a realtor on The Malone Hodges Team, where I’m able to blend my local knowledge with a passion for real estate.

But beyond all of that, I simply love living here. My partner and I are always exploring, trying new restaurants, discovering local businesses, and appreciating both the iconic spots and the hidden gems. Living here isn’t something I take for granted—it’s something I actively choose.

That’s where the idea of being “Coastal by Design” comes from. It’s the belief that this lifestyle isn’t accidental, it’s intentional. It’s choosing to slow down, to connect, to explore, and to truly appreciate what’s around you.

The Coast Brief is an extension of that mindset. It’s a curated look at what’s happening locally, paired with real estate insight and personal perspective you won’t find just anywhere. Whether it’s highlighting new businesses, sharing market knowledge, or giving insight into the lifestyle that defines this area, my goal is to offer something deeper than the typical guide. Because if you’re looking to understand the Monterey Peninsula—whether you live here, are moving here, or simply love it, there’s no substitute for a perspective that’s been lived, not just observed.
